Sunnyslope’s Choirs just returned from a 3-day trip to California where they performed at the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim. Click “Read More” for all the details.
The Choirs were judged by three great clinicians and were then rated and ranked against schools from all over the country and even a group from Japan! The Festival Choir (all 72 participants) earned a Silver rating, Concert Choir a Silver rating and 3rd place plaques in the Concert Choir category, and Vocal Ensemble earned a Gold rating and 3rd place overall in the Chamber Choir category. ‘Slope’s choirs also received the “Spirit of Anaheim” Award. This award was given to the school who best represented their community and state. After working hard and singing well, the group got to spend some time on the beach and at Disneyland. It was a great trip, with lots of good attitudes and happy faces. Way to go Choir!

Please plan to join us at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 at Cowden Center (9202 N 2nd St.) for an informative 90-minute presentation designed to educate parents and professionals about teen and adult drug use.
Sunnyslope W.I.N.S. welcomes Stephanie Kreiling of Community Bridges who will share the most up to date information on local and national trends, what drug use may look like, as well as how to recognize the paraphernalia and concealment of drugs. Effective prevention strategies, such as delaying the onset of alcohol use in the teen years or monitoring medicine cabinets in the home are discussed. The theme of the presentation is that drug use is not only an individual problem for the user/addict; it is a problem that effects the entire community.
The “bigger picture” of drug use and the impact on the community is identified, with the goal being to decrease use and fatalities (risk) through education and awareness.
